I first heard about Star Wars when my father brought home the VCD for The Phantom Menace. And my brother and I absolutely loved the story! After that we followed the 5th and 6th movies. We even rewatched Star Wars 1, 2 and 3! :)

I first heard about Star Wars when i was able to watch how the movie was made on TV. It was exciting because the moviemakers used a lot of scale models of the Millennium Falcon, the Death Star, and my favorite, the X Wings. Too bad I was not able to watch it when it was first shown because I was too young back then to watch a movie alone. (My dad won;t let me)

I fist heard about Star Wars when I was in grade 4, when The Matrix and Phantom Menace was released. My classmates were talking about those movies and their effects. Took me a couple of years to finally watch it.

I first heard about Star Wars when I picked up an old gold edition VCD of movies 4 through 6 here at home. I didn’t get much of the plot when I was a kid, but I still thought lightsabers were cool. And the “Luke, I am your father.” line got stuck in my head as well. It took a few more years before the first movie was released, and I tried playing through the video games too, but no luck there. :D

First heard about Star Wars through older cousins who won’t stop talking about the first trilogy.

My earliest memory of Star Wars: receiving a copy of the oversized Marvel Special Edition comic book adaptation of The Empire Strikes Back from an uncle and getting the impression that the sheer scale of this story wasn’t just in the physical dimensions of the book.

Earliest memory of Star Wars is watching The Phantom Menace in my computer. It’s the first time I played a CD in my PC and the first time I heard of Star Wars.

The Star Wars Moleskine looks great! I first heard about Star Wars when my parents took me to the cinema to watch the first trilogy. I can’t even remember how old I was when I first saw the movies.

I first heard of Star Wars was when my mom took home bunch of CDs of the movies from an officemate. I’m not much a big fan but that’s Star Wars!

I first heard (or read, rather) about Star Wars on K-zone when I was a kid. I didn’t know anything about the movie series but surprisingly, I found a DVD set of the whole franchise. And that’s how I got to know Star Wars!

I first heard about Star Wars back in the 90s when my Mom rented a VHS copy of the three movies – A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi :)

I saw Star Wars (VI) accidentally airing on TV. I remember it was the scene when Princess Leia was captured by Jubba. After that, my brother and I rented the VCD of Episode 4, 5 and 6. :)

I first heard about Star Wars when my uncle took me to see The Empire Strikes Back. It was the second movie I ever saw at a movie theater. I’ve been addicted to it since — put posters up in my room, collected Kenner figures, followed the canon and EU, and of course, stood in line and watched the movies religiously.

Funny bit about star trek, lol.

First time I ever heard of star wars? Hmmm… I guess when I watched it in the movies as a kid. I remember the movie theater was jampacked, we literally had to sit on the floor. I don’t recall hearing about it before that though.

  21. November 2nd, 2011 at 20:49 | #21

I first learned about star wars when I was really little. Being born in 1980 I missed the initial hype, buzz, craziness-whatnot the first time around. I remember being in a car with my parents going to the bank, and they gave me a star wars action figure when my parents opened a savings account for me…. It was amazing. Luke skywalker with a retractable light saber. Epic. It had to be at the release of return of the Jedi or empire strikes back, I have no clue which movie it was now… That was a long time ago, in a station wagon far far away…

The first time I have encountered Star Wars was when I was about 6 years old (early 80′s). My bro, an avid fan til’ now was the one who was into it. It was the betamax era. And he got a copy of the film. I was fascinated and intrigued for such a young age. Needless to say, that copy of Star wars was shown daily in our household due to my insistence. I got hooked with C3PO and R2D2. Got scared of Darth Vader. Loved the cuddly Ewoks (though they can be feisty sometimes) Hero worship Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. And bowed to the Sensei Yoda. Until that tape is well scratched from my repeated viewing. Thanks Avalon for this opportunity….May the Force be with you.

I first heard about Star Wars when my dad rented VHS tapes of the first three films. I was only a kid back then but I was really fascinated with the story, even more when my dad explained it to me. Was a fan ever since. ;)

I first heard about star wars when I was in grade school. It was repeatedly advertise in the TV sets. And my uncles kept talking about it. But I fell in love with it when I saw phantom menace and the next movies after that. I had to buy the old movies just to tell myself that I’ve watch from start to finish!

  26. November 2nd, 2011 at 22:44 | #27

I first heard about Star Wars through my older siblings, they rented VHS tapes of the older Star Wars movies when I was about 9. Didn’t fully understand it then but that’s when my interest in strange-looking creatures (among other things) began. Was able to appreciate and love it all the more through my Speculative Fiction elective in college. :)

I first heard about Star Wars when I saw a VHS of the original pre-special edition VHS tapes from my uncle back in 1995-1996.

Never really thought about it much…then Episode I was released in 1999 and people started to chant: “QUEEN AMIDALAAAA.” then still didn’t bother.

    UNTIL…

I saw Yoda fight Count Dooku in 2002.

    That changed my life forever.

First heard about Star Wars when my Mom brought home the original trilogy on VHS when I was a little kid (about five or six years old). I’ve been harboring a crush on Luke ever since. :)

I heard Star Wars prolly when I was still in grade school and I loved it ever since (even though some parts of it were still a blur for me that time.) Most of it were given clarity as I grow up and remain a Star Wars fan. Not only that – but also a George Lucas fan. Star Wars is a classic and I think is an essential part of my childhood (having practically NO social life then.) I will always be a Star Wars die hard fan.

I first heard of Star Wars during the late ’80′s, when Return of the Jedi hadn’t aired yet. My mom went shopping in Cubao. To keep my sisters and I occupied, my Dad pointed out that Star Wars Episode IV was airing OUTSIDE Farmers Plaza. If anyone remembers, they aired a lot of movies screened against the whitewashed walls of Farmers Plaza during that time. People stood across the street where Gateway parking now is to watch them. I stood across that very same street, holding my father’s and sister’s hands while I watched Star Wars Episode IV.

  31. November 3rd, 2011 at 12:00 | #32

I’ve been hearing a lot of people talking about how great Star Wars is. But it was only when I met my husband when I really learned about it. In fact, he has a complete CD collection of the series. :)

  32. November 3rd, 2011 at 12:40 | #33

It was a long time ago…in a city not so far away (Quezon City), where I, 5 years old, sat down with my grandfather and uncles and cousins around the TV where they scheduled a Star Wars VHS Viewing party.

Not knowing what it was, I was mesmerized by light sabers, droids, sith lords as well as the Millenium Falcon, Wookies and at least I knew first hand that Han Solo did indeed shoot first.

  33. November 3rd, 2011 at 13:11 | #34

I think I first heard about star wars from my mother. She grew up watching lots of movies. Then back in high school (end of 90s), the Star Wars trilogy was re-released in cinemas! ^^

  34. November 3rd, 2011 at 15:25 | #35

    AWESOME GIVEAWAY!

    1. I think it was back in the 80s when my older male cousins would role play STAR WARS. It was all about Darth Vader back then and how they try to mimic is sound. And then I saw Queen Amidala… WOW! Then I realized Star Wars was a whole new world to explore.

The first time I heard about “Star Wars” is from my Dad, who just came from Saudi, brought along Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi VHS tapes way back in the early 80s. I was around 6 years old then and we really enjoyed watching it!

My little brother was watching, and I didn’t want to because that was “nerd stuff”. Then Han Solo came onto the screen.

I sat down pretty quick and watched all 3 in one day. Now, 20 years later, I’m proud to say that I am most definitively into all sorts of “nerd stuff”, not just Harrison Ford’s luscious locks and gorgeous grin in Star Wars.

    LOL @ Star Trek!

I remember seeing “A New Hope” (back then the title was simply “Star Wars”) in a theater with my mom. Yes, in the 70′s XD I was 7 or 8 years old at the time and I worshipped Luke Skywalker! LMAO

For some reason I didn’t like “The Empire Strikes Back” as much, probably because the good guys lost … and then I saw “Return of the Jedi” in the 80′s and my hero worship revived for a while. Haha good times!

I was raised by Star Wars geeks. My Dad and my brother were huge fans of the saga. So, the fever kinda rubbed on me too. We’d watch our VHS copy of Episode V almost everyday as a toddler. I’d dream about owning my own purple light saber someday, imagine myself as Princess Leia or go to the dark side as a Sith Lord.

I remember watching the digitally remastered trilogy in the theater and latter getting the movies on VHS, laser disc, DVD and blu-ray! I played the Star Wars video games. I actually first encountered Star Wars a little late than most people. I’ve heard of it before but I did not really pay any attention to the “first” trilogy. I first watched the movie when digitally remastered copies was shown again in the moviehouses. And, right there and there I fell in love with the series! I remember how as a kid I kept on pretending to be Luke Skywalker and a stick as a lightsaber!

I first heard about Star Wars from my group of guy friends back in high school, but I didn’t really care about it so much because I was never a fan of anything sci-fi. And then year after year, I hear so much about it from my other friends that it got me curious, which to my boyfriend was a delight. During the last long weekend, he finally persuaded me to watch all six movies in one go (in blu-ray!) and surprisingly, I got myself hooked! Now I can’t stop talking about! A Star Wars notebook would be perfect for my everyday notes and reminders :)

  43. November 7th, 2011 at 21:12 | #44

I first heard about Star Wars during the summer of 1998. We were staying in my dad’s cousin’s house in Florida. My dad was on a couch, watching some movie on VHS. Being the curious/annoying child that I was, I decided to pepper him with questions while he was watching the movie.

Me: “Who’s the tall guy with the funny mask?”
    Dad: “That’s Darth Vader.”
Me: “Who’s the short guy in black?”
    Dad: “That’s the Emperor.”
    Me: “What are they doing?”
Dad: “Sit down and watch the movie.”

The movie was “Return of the Jedi”. Little did I know that this movie (and the two more that I watched relentlessly on VHS, plus the three new movies I caught on opening day) would change my life forever :D

I learned about Star Wars from my uncle back in ’83. Brought me to Greenhills to watch a big slug eat a smaller slug. I remember flashes of light. Opening crawls. A golden droid. The pop-up book from that movie.

Now I have my own Jedi robes, a lightsaber, and a membership in the Rebel Legion (www.rebellegion.com). I have achieved Jedihood. Now if I can use the Force…

I dunno when was the first time I’ve heard of Star Wars, but it did sound familiar (I remember the Ewoks though). The first time I’ve seen IV-VI though was in 2005, I think. Better late than never!
