I am thankful for every day that I wake up knowing that even if I am sick and may have difficulty having kids in the future, I am not dying. π
I just thank goodness I survived this year!
I plugged this at http://twitter.com/mahalaryu and http://ailaham.wordpress.com/2009/11/30/what-are-you-thankful-for-this-2009/
*crosses fingers!*
I’m thankful for the chance of winning this! =)
(And of course, that even when things were hard in the year 2009, so much good still came out of it – including the fact that I can look forward to the year 2010! =D)
2009 has been a rollercoaster-ride for me. There were ups and there were downs. It’d be easier to say I’m thankful for all the ups I’ve went through this year: a new apartment, a rekindled love affair, road trips to new places, a promotion at work and lots and lots of new stuff. But it was mostly the downs I’m most thankful for because it gave my life a different dimension: a break-up, a family member leaving the country for good, a failed career option, days when I was really broke. It’s because of stuff like this that I was able to rise up and have the courage to live on. 2009 may have been hard, but I know 2010 will be better.
This year has been akin to an awakening for me. So many things were stirred up in me that I’ve never thought was possible & I’m truly a better person now. I’m thankful for love & loss, the ups & downs, the peace & insanity… All dualisms, everything in between… They make life like a colourful parade — and we all dance (-:
I’m thankful for the many candidates running for President this year. They made me realize that in the elections to come, a genuine leader should step up from our ranks.
I am thankful for all the rash decisions I did not make.
I am thankful for new friends made that I hope would turn out lifetime.
After waiting for 6 years, my biggest blessing finally came this 2009.
I am thankful for my son.

I am thankful for so many things and one of them is this contest. I am thankful that Avalon.ph is sharing its blessings to Pinoy bloggers. Big thanks to you! π
I am thankful to have survived this year’s trials to my sanity. And for this one big blessing that has changed my life in ways I cannot even fully articulate, I am extremely thankful for that.
My 2010 will be colorful π
I am thankful for the blessings that I have received this year… the inspirations for my blogs and craft which are my comics and the novel I am writing. Also the trials that I have endured… even sometimes it rocked me to the core, I still woke up everyday and felt I am still alive and everything I have encountered makes life more happy.
I am thankful that for my health and the well being of my family. I can’t say it was good year but still I am thankful for all the blessings I received.
I am thankful for all the people I have met and those that I’ve grown closer to. I’m also very thankful for all the experiences I had, and especially for the lessons I learned from them.

i’m thankful for having a blog. though i have a handful of friends, there are times that i really feel lonely. of course i got a loving family but aside from them, everybody needs a friend. and that’s what my blog has been doing for four years now. it’s been there to accompany me, listen to my problems when nobody seems to care. 2009 is a bit special since the magnitude of my loneliness and emptiness fall down on me so sudden.
another thing i’m thankful for are bloggers like you giving away free stuff like this. this is my second time joining a contest and hopefully this time, i’ll win. besides, i need color in my life, might as well have color notes instead… π

I am thankful for my newfound friends; the organization that I had recently joined and became a part of; the wonderful books that I’ve read; the deadly exams that I’ve managed to pass; the late night-outs with people whose company I enjoy; and my family.
amidst all the mishappenstance of 2009…i am alive and ok, my family and friends too…and with that alone, i feel overly blessed…
I’m thankful for being alive because I cross C5 almost every day. Even with a Pasig police helping me cross, the cars still zoom right past you as you’re crossing the street. So thank you, God for keeping me alive, and thank you Pasig police, for helping me cross the street. And thanks to avalon.ph for the most awesome books!

So, this year I am thankful for not being broken. For not having to go through that emotional roller-coaster again. For being able to make the right decisions- if not all the time, but at least most of the time. For having good friends, who have helped me through thick and thin. For having to love and be loved. For all the people who supported me to change for the better.
2009 is indeed one big leap.
Iβm thankful most importantly, that 2009 happened.

i am thankful because i started openly celebrating who i am this year and my friends love and respect me even more for because of it. i am very happy to have met the one i will be with for the rest of my days.
1. A job that doesnβt require me to sit on my ass during the wee hours of the morning, simulating an American intonation with my social life and prime time National Geographic documentaries going down the miserable drain before me. All these just to get screamed at by some trailer park redneck from another time zone.
2. Winning a national poetry award for a four-line travel-themed poetry. This after the University of the Philippinesβ Creative Writing Institute decided I donβt display enough writing prowess to be admitted to their graduate school program (I knew it. Bjorn and I should have peppered our try-out manuscripts with Marxist terminologies and burned our poignant poetries on nature and God before the Universityβs nude effigy).
3. Like-minded friends for the comedy and for being willing to perform various bizarre antics in the name of insanity, art and Bjork.
4. The bookstores which never grow tired of stacking up their shelves with great literature.
5. God and His promises.
6. Mommy and Daddy for supplying me with enough morbidity with their daily discussions on medical gore over breakfast (and for putting up with my tantrums).
7. He-knows-who-he-is for his perfect grammar, quiet intelligence, forest-green eyes and everyday cheerios.
8. Occasional bouts of depression to always remind me that I am human and very much imperfect.
9. Chowking for the ice cubes when I needed a cup full of it for blissful munching.
10. Regina Spektor, Tori Amos and Fiona Apple for music that arouses the muse; Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage and Rage Against the Machine when I need an escape from my disappointments.

I am thankful for the gift of being able to survive. 2009 has been my rockiest, most troubled year. It is the worst year of my life, and yet, I am still alive and I still manage to muster a smile or two. That’s what I’m thankful for.

I am thankful for finding love and keeping it (so far–fingers tightly crossed!); for making new friends and finding out which friends were not worth keeping; for making decisions and mistakes that honed me as a person; for attending weddings, taking plenty of pictures, making memories, and learning more not only from my MA classes, but also from everyone around me. I am thankful for laughter, for living, and for life! π
So many things to be thankful for every day, every waking moment. Despite all of these,I’ve selected my top three!
1. I’m thankful that all my hard work in med school is finally gonna pay off! Three years of sleepless nights and hundreds of cups of coffee has passed. One more grueling year to go before graduation. *hopefully*
2. I’m thankful that I have found the one. Someone who respects me and loves every bit of me flaws and all. Someone who has made the past 27 months, the best months of my life. =)
3. I’m thankful that despite the countless mistakes I’ve made, in my heart I have no regrets. Because I know that if I hadnβt made any of them, I wouldnβt have learned how to make things right.

I am thankful for being financially independent from my parents. I have a decent part-time job (not call center:) that can support my schooling and daily expenses. I’ve never asked money from my parents now. I can even buy grocery and food for our family. It always make me feel good that finally I am making my own money. Aside from it I learn how to use my money wisely.

It has been my guiding light in facing the pressures of finding who am I and what I want to do in life.
Hi I also place it on one of the forums here

This 2009, I am most grateful for the birth of my baby girl!

I am thankful that my family and I are in good health. With all that has happened this year (the recession, floods, etc.) I am grateful that no one has been harmed or has gotten sick in my family–and that we are all still together no matter what π

What am I thankful for?
I’m thankful for the unconditional love my mother has been generously giving me for the past 21 years of my life. Our relationship maybe far from perfect. And undeniably, we had our fair share of mother and daughter fight; but through out all of this, she has never failed to catch me whenever I find myself down on my knees. Those people whom I thought would always be there for me has turned their back without even bothering to give so much of a glance at me. But my mom, although we may have had exchange the most hurtful words one can imagine back in my Highschool days, had her arms stretched out for me so that I could rise up again and start anew. I’m sharing this not only to win the moleskin notebook, which i totally admire btw, but to honor my mama whom have molded me to be the best person I could ever be. My sharing maybe a little bit common or some would think as a cliche but for someone like me who has never shown my mama how earnestly thankful I am to God that he has given her to me as my mother, its quite a big deal. I love you mama. And although we are miles apart for the time being (for she is in Saudi Arabia right now with my dad and little sis), I want you to know that for this Christmas, I want to ask God to give me more golden times to spend with you. xoxo

thanks…
“Dear Prudence” by the Beatles was my personal theme song/mantra for 2009 and I am thankful for all the people who came into my life who made me feel exactly this:
The sun is up the sky is blue
It’s beautiful and so are you…

This year has been the most adventurous year of my life. A lot of bad things happened to me, but I just take them with the good ones and consider them a plus for experience…

There are so many reasons to be thankful this year. Some of these are constants like life, love, and learning. If I had to cite just one specific instance for 2009, however, it would have to be how my love for poetry was (re-)kindled this year through the work of Wallace Stevens. I’ve been reading his work for years, but it was only in 2009 when this interest bloomed into glorious obsession.
I’m thankful everyday I wake up to enjoy another day with my loved ones. For all the blessings I received even though I felt I was not good a person to be blessed with such things.

In 2009, I’m particularly thankful for the friends I regained/reconnected with; they helped me gain more perspective on things that I probably wouldn’t give attention to had they not pushed me in the right directions.

This 2009 has been very tough for most of Filipino people.
There’s this Swine Flu which affected the health, education and social lives of hundreds or even thousands of our fellows. The wrath of Ondoy which took the livelihood of so many. Their houses were flooded, their possessions and worst of all, the lives of their loved ones are lost in the blink of an eye which is so hard to believe because it didn’t happen for so many decades in Manila. And the latest happening that shocked everyone of us is the Maguindanao Massacre which happened few weeks ago. A massive killing of innocent civilians and those who are just doing their job rightfully.
It has been a year full of tears, misbelief, anger, disappointment, loss and pain. And mostly might have asked this to theirselves…
What is it that God has given me this year that I should thank for? A question hardly answered by many.
But some including me came to realize how fortunate i have become that this 2009 has been a blessing to me.
First is the threat of the disease that became a scare to most of us. I am working in a hospital full of sickly people. I havent used much of the mask and strong vitamins but still I, even my friends and family didnt contract the virus.
Then when Ondoy came to visit Manila, It was October 26 when my boyfriend called me in panic telling me that their things has been washed out by water. I was kinda confused because we are watching tv while it rains and nothing is happening. There’s even no flood in front of our house. and thankfully my love one wasnt hurt after.
And now here I am. Very well. Strong and fine. Working. and oh! just got my work this year before I forget. Its a blessing having a work these days right?
God’s protection towards my family and I is the greatest thing I am thankful for this year. And still hoping for more protection in 2010.
A Moleskine might be an aid to express my gratitude in every moment that i feel that I am truly blessed by the Lord.
May everyone of us find the happiness despite of the crisis we are facing. As long as we live. Its something we should thank for.

I am so thankful that I had overcome all obstacles brought by 2009 and thus I grew up and learned so much, but best of all is that i became so much happier than how I was for the past years. Now life for me is so amazing and I am thankful for every single day that passes me by.

I’m thankful for 2009 for a work promotion, an Elvis Costello concert, 2 overseas vacations, time off from work for the 2 overseas vacations, relative comfort, springing back after the storms, an operation, hormone medicines, great doctors — that means that I will be healthier for many years to come and of course, a wonderful family.

What am I thankful for this 2009? Simply being able to get through it sane, alive, and in one piece, when in fact a number of Filipinos will not be able to witness the new dawn that 2010 shall (hopefully) bring. And to all of them, I offer my prayers and a promise that I will not let their sufferings and death go to waste.
